Meet the Team!

Jay Lipshez grew up locally in Farmington, CT where he attended all 12 years of school. As a child he consistently disassembled everything around him, the physics of our world was something that always intrigued his young mind. As he grew older he realized that there is great need for people with talent in the trades so he chose to join the work force right after he graduated from FHS. He immediately fell in love with building homes and never left the industry. Today he prides himself on taking peoples’ houses, and turning them into their dream homes!

Shawn Fortin also grew up locally in Burlington, CT. After his first eight years of schooling in town, he started attending Saint Paul High School in Bristol, CT. Shawn knew from an early age that his greatest desire was to someday run his own successful business. With that dream in mind, he decided to continue his education before entering the work force in a full time capacity. He decided that staying close to home and attending Central Connecticut State University would be the best option so he could also work part time while studying full time. His fields of study at CCSU were Business Management and Entrepreneurship. Shawn also earned his Real Estate license in Connecticut while studying at CCSU. Although Shawn and Jay already had a long standing friendship, they didn’t think of starting a business together right away. It was Jay’s love of building and Shawn’s desire to start his own business, that led to the “light bulb” moment. After comparing resumes and dreams, and sharing a great many long conversations, J&S Construction llc was born!

Today J&S enjoys 2 ventures. The mainstay of the partnership is still renovating and remodeling homes but the partners also maintain another business that utilizes both partners strengths as much as construction. Shawn and Jay also help home buyers and sellers with closings and closing concessions, 203k construction home loans, and other things related to both Real Estate and construction. J&S also started another business that flips houses and buys and holds income/rental properties. A match made in heaven. What better way to manage businesses than to have partners who carry all the necessary skills in the required areas? We at J&S pride ourselves on being a “single source” company. We do absolutely everything in our power to eliminate the headaches of needing many different contracts with multiple companies or people, all to manage 1 project. We will always do our best to source all of the products we use from local businesses like ourselves whenever possible!
